Feb. 3: Affordable Care Act, ReelAbilities

By Khambrel Marshall - Meteorologist, 'Newsmakers' Host

HOUSTON - There will be no politics -- just the facts about the Affordable Care Act this Sunday on Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall. Dr. Vivian Ho, an expert in health care issues joins Khambrel for a matter-of-fact conversation about what's good and not so good about the Affordable Care Act -- the myths and realities about who may have to pay more for their health care and many other aspects about our health care system.  Dr. Ho is the chair of Health Economics at the Baker Institute at Rice University and professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She does an excellent job of distilling what is a very complex subject into information you and your family and business can understand and use.

The ReelAbilities Film Festival is the largest festival of its kind in the United States dedicated to promoting the appreciation of the lives and stories of people with disabilities. Ten incredible movies at 10 different locations profile men, women and children dealing with and overcoming various levels of disability. Houston is one of 13 cities across the country hosting this festival. The Houston event kicks off on Feb. 6 and runs through Feb. 13. Joining Khambrel are Eric Mayer, the co-chair of the ReelAbilities Film Festival, Elaine Roberts from the Department of Neighborhoods in the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities and Lauren Mielziner, the event coordinator of Jewish Family Services, the sponsor of the event.

It is a very informative and fast-moving half hour! Watch Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall Sunday at 10 a.m., right after Meet the Press with David Gregory.
