Zika case confirmed in Brazoria County

Travel-related case

MANVEL, Brazoria County – A case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in Brazoria County.

The patient lives in the Manvel-area.

It has not been revealed where the patient contracted the virus, but it is travel-related, health officials confirmed.

Brazoria County health officials said they have been monitoring for mosquito-related illnesses and have found no evidence of mosquito-borne transmission of the Zika virus in the county.

Symptoms of Zika includes fever, rash, red eyes and joint-pain for a week, officials said.
