Women struggle over purse in gas station parking lot

HOUSTON - A woman confronted another woman who tried to steal her purse out of her vehicle, and it was all caught on camera.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a woman stopped at a gas station in the 10800 block of the Eastex Freeway about 2:25 a.m. on July 18.

While she was inside the store, the woman saw another woman getting into her vehicle to try to take her purse, investigators said.

The woman ran out to the parking lot and confronted the thief, officials said.

The two women struggled over the purse. Detectives said the thief threw the victim to the ground and ran away.

Deputies said the victim suffered an $800 loss in the robbery.

The thief was described as white, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 145 pounds with short brown hair that she wore in a ponytail the night of the robbery. Witnesses said she also has a tattoo on her upper right arm. She was last seen wearing a gray tank top and multicolored shorts.
