Woman's body found in motel room

Police say drugs may have played a role in the woman's death

HOUSTON - Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman's body was found inside a motel room in northeast Houston on Wednesday morning.

The body was found at The Western Inn Motel on the North Loop near Airline around 1 a.m. when officers responded to an emergency call. The officers found a woman in her 30s laying on a bed unresponsive, police said.

Investigators said there does not appear to be any physical trauma to her body or any signs of struggle inside the motel room.

Investigators said at one point, there were two men inside of the room with the victim. The manager of the motel said a man checked into the room on Tuesday afternoon but has not been seen since. The other man was inside the motel room when police arrived and he was taken downtown.

"We have a person of interest that was here upon patrol's arrival and upon homicide's arrival on the scene," said Houston Police homicide detective Brian Evans.

Investigators said they believe drugs may have played a role in the woman's death.

"The problem is the room may or may not have been cleaned," said Evans.

Police said they are looking for the man that originally checked into the motel room on Tuesday.
