Woman sues Starbucks over hot coffee spill at Houston airport

New York woman seeking $100,000 to $200,000 in damages

HOUSTON – Starbucks is facing a $100,000 lawsuit from a New York woman after an incident at a Houston airport.

The lawsuit shows Jessica Pyne is seeking damages after a barista spilled hot coffee on her legs at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

"After the incident occurred, the employees of Starbucks basically ignored Plaintiff's cries and request for assistance," according to court documents filed on Wednesday in Harris County.

Pyne is alleging the barista wasn't trained properly because the cup's lid was not secured.

She's seeking monetary damages based on injuries she claimed she received from the hot coffee.
