Woman says she was shot at while driving in NW Harris County

HOUSTON – Imagine you're off work early on a Friday afternoon when one of your car windows shatters. You have no idea what happened, but are later told it looks like a bullet caused the damage.

"All of a sudden I hear a loud bang. I hear something hit my car and my back passenger window just shattered," said Tremissa DeLeon.

DeLeon was driving down the Tomball Parkway near Willowbrook Mall when her rear window shattered.

She drove the nearest dealership, and said she was told by an employee it looked like a bullet hit her window.

DeLeon said the damage was on the same side of the car where her son usually sits.

"I am very thankful he was not in the car with me that day, because if it had gone through that would have been my child," said DeLeon.

DeLeon said her scare immediately brought to mind a similar incident in Meyerland, where a stray bullet hit a 1-year-old in both legs while the child was strapped into a car seat. Sheriff's deputies reported they didn't find a slug inside DeLeon's car. DeLeon said deputies told her it was likely a smaller-caliber bullet.

Since DeLeon didn't know where the shot came from, she couldn't begin to give a description of who may have fired the shot.

"Somebody needs to know, they really need to do something about it. What they can do I don't know, but something has to be done," said DeLeon.

DeLeon escaped unhurt, but a new window cost her $160.
