Woman run over, killed after falling out of car on I-45

HOUSTON - A woman was killed Saturday night after she fell out of a moving car onto the freeway and was run over by another vehicle.

Police said the woman was a passenger in the car with her husband. According to family members, the couple had been arguing for awhile.

Officers were still investigating, but said the couple was traveling southbound on Interstate 45 in a white Chevrolet Trail Blazer when the woman fell or was pushed out of the vehicle around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police said after the woman landed on the highway, she was hit by another vehicle, a white Ford Explorer driven by a Hispanic woman, heading the same direction on the freeway.

The woman was killed. Both vehicles did not stop and drove away from the scene.

According to police, a few witnesses followed and got a partial license plate. Officers said they would use the partial plate number to try and track down the vehicle responsible for the accident.

The southbound lanes of I-45 were shut down for three hours while police investigated the scene, but reopened early Sunday morning.

Anyone with information in this case or can identify the wanted drivers is asked to call the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
