According to Harris County deputies, a 45-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man tried to cross the street and were hit by a pickup. A car then hit the woman after she fell to the ground.

The woman died at the scene, deputies said. The man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is expected to recover.

Deputies said the driver of the car that hit the woman stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. However, the driver of the truck left the scene, deputies said. That vehicle was described only as a red, older-model Chevrolet pickup.

Deputies said pieces of the truck were left behind.
