HOUSTON – A 61-year-old woman is recovering at home after a brutal attack in the drive-thru lane of a southwest Houston bank.
It happened at 11:45 Tuesday morning at the Capital One Bank on Bissonnet and Chimney Rock.
She pulled up to the commercial lane to make a deposit and says a man pulled on the passenger side handle of her truck trying to get inside.
"The guy tried to open my door the right door, but he couldn't so he broke my window," said the victim who does not want to be identified.
She says the man then reached inside for her purse, but she quickly moved it to the other side. That's when the man began beating her.
"He hit me in the face, he hit me in my nose and my arm. The doctor say my nose is a little bit broken inside, it's painful, very painful," she said.
The woman said she screamed for help but no one came to her aid so she drove off, going home to call police.
Once the officer arrived and saw how bloodied she was, he advised her to go to Ben Taub Hospital to be checked out.
Witnesses told investigators the man got away in a black Jeep.
Houston police said they are checking to see if surveillance video captured the incident and can help identify the suspect.
