HOUSTON - Airline passengers are seeing major delays Friday morning, as a result of the winter storm that hit the northeastern part of the United States.

At Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Winter Storm Hercules grounded flights headed to several cities, including Detroit, Cincinnati and St. Louis.

The United Airlines ticket counter was crowded with people hoping to trying to change flights and hopefully beat the storm to their destination cities.

Many people arrived at the airport early to avoid crowds, but by 5 a.m., the lines were already long.

Airport officials said that conditions would only get worse throughout the day.

Delays at both Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airport would create a ripple effect, affecting later flights as well.
