HOUSTON - Don't be thrown off by the long guns!

Many travelers will see Houston police officers walking around Houston's airports with long guns for Thanksgiving holiday.

This will be the first time the Bush and Hobby airports will deploy officers with rifles for extra security.

"This is the first time we've deployed long guns, and the reason they're here is because of the Thanksgiving holiday travel. We've got increased number of people at the airport, and it's just another tool that we can use to protect the citizens," said Houston Police Department Lt. David Acres.

The department is making it known to visitors and troublemakers: "Don't mess with Texas."
