Woman on horseback charged with DUI

53-year-old twice over legal limit

A Florida woman who was stopped while riding a horse down a busy highway was cited with a DUI, reports The Associated Press.

Donna Byrne, 53, appeared confused and possibly in danger while on horseback, prompting a bystander to call police. When authorities arrived to the scene, they found Byrne riding her horse in the road with a blood-alcohol level of .161, which is twice Florida's legal limit.

Police arrested Byrne on DUI and animal neglect charges and taken into custody, while the horse was taken to the Polk County Sheriff's Animal Control livestock facility.
