Vigil held in Kingwood for boy killed in boat accident

Little leaguers, parents gather to remember life of 9-year-old Jason Frost

KINGWOOD, Texas - As the investigation moves forward into a boating accident where three members of one family were killed, the youngest victim was honored Thursday night.

Nearly 100 little leaguers and their parents gathered at the Kingwood Forest Cove baseball fields to remember the life of 9-year-old Jason Frost.

"We wanted the whole entire baseball league to be aware that we lost a great kid, a great player, a great friend," said Jason's baseball coach, Daniel Goss, who helped organize Thursday's candlelight vigil. "It wasn't just him being lost. It was his mother and aunt, too. So we're here for all of them."

Goss said he last saw Jason on Sunday after he played catcher in an All-Star game. Two days later Jason, his mother, Kristina Frost, 29, and his aunt Leilani Cole, 30, were involved in a boat crash on Lake Conroe that resulted in the deaths of all three.

"It made me sick," Goss said of hearing the tragic news. "I was definitely shocked. It's tragic to lose him. That's why we're here tonight (at the vigil). We're trying to show support and love for the family."

Investigators said Jason's 3-year-old sister and the boat's driver, Brandon Wilson, 45, were among those injured when the 21-foot boat they were on was nearly cut in half Tuesday night.

According to investigators, the boat carrying eight people was hit by a bass boat. The passenger in that bass boat was country music singer Josh Ward.

On Ward's Facebook page Thursday, the singer offered his condolences and urged fans to donate to an online fund set up to help with the family's funeral costs.

Another fund exists to help the Frost family and you can get more information by clicking here.

Investigators said alcohol didn't play a role in the crash and as of Thursday evening no charges had been filed in connection to the case.
