VIDEO: 5 Houston officers struggle with man after traffic stop

HOUSTON – Video appeared to show five Houston police officers struggling Monday night with a man who they were trying to arrest after a traffic stop in southern Houston.

According to Houston police, they stopped a vehicle being driven by the man after they noticed it had bad temporary plates. They said the vehicle went around the block before the driver came to a stop in front of some homes.

Police said the passenger tried to run from the scene, but was quickly arrested. Officers said they struggled with the driver before ultimately arresting him.

In the video of the driver’s arrest, the man can be heard yelling at officers and telling them to get off of him. One of the officers responds by asking the man if he will willingly get into the vehicle and then orders the other officers to get off of the man.

In another part of the video, the officers can be seen lifting the man off the ground, carrying him to a waiting cruiser and seemingly struggling to get him inside.

Police said the driver faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

It was not immediately clear what charges the passenger faced.
