HOUSTON - A vacant home was destroyed in a fire in southwest Houston Thursday.

It started around 5 a.m. inside a one-story house on Wickview Lane and Vandalia Way.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames pouring from the roof of the home but managed to get the fire under control.

Apparently an elderly woman used to live in the house, but she passed away over a year ago, and no one has lived there since.

However, firefighters said some of her belongings were still inside the home when it burned.

No one was injured.

Arson units are investigating the cause of the fire.
