US 290 eastbound connector ramp reopens: Here's what you need to know

HOUSTON – Drivers are now able to access a new U.S. Highway 290 eastbound connector ramp to IH 610 after the ramp reopened three days ahead of schedule.

The ramp was closed on Nov. 8 while the new connection was being built, which caused headaches for drivers due to traffic.

Drivers were asked to detour onto IH 610 southbound then make a U-turn at Woodway/Memorial to get to the northbound lanes.

Things drivers should know about the new connector ramp, according to TXDOT:

- Drivers traveling toward 610 West Loop: Drivers should exit from the left side of freeway. TxDOT says the left lane is the only exit to 610 West Loop with the center as an optional exit to 610 West Loop or 610 North Loop.

- Drivers traveling towards 610 North Loop: They will need to exit from the right side of the freeway. The right lane is the only exit to 610 North Loop with the center lane as an optional exit to 610 North or West Loop.
