SPRING - Homicide investigators have charged a man with murder for shooting his elderly aunt and uncle.

Harris County deputies responded to a welfare check around 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ludgate and Reynaldo in Spring.

After not hearing from them, the couple's son, Mark Crampton, went to their home an discovered their bodies in the bedroom.

Investigators said 80-year-old Harold Crampton and 78-year-old Mary Crampton were shot to death.

Crampton said his father and mother had been married for more than 60 years and dedicated their lives to teaching across the country.

Harris County Sheriff's Office detectives spent hours walking the area Thursday morning and talking to neighbors. Several houses have surveillance cameras pointed toward the street and could be helpful in the investigation.

On Friday, homicide investigators charged 43-year-old Brandon Trent Harris, the couple's nephew, with capital murder in their shooting deaths.

Officials said Harris was book into the Harris County Jail with no bond. Robbery appears to be the motive.

"They were good parents," said Crampton. "They were loving people. They never denied anybody...anyone... friends, family and people they never met. My dad never met anyone he didn't like."
