HOUSTON - A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a vehicle in a Burger King parking lot in Montrose.

Houston police said 44-year-old Samuel Luke Delaschott was found dead in the restaurant's parking lot at 1002 Westheimer around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Police said Delaschott had pulled into parking and remained in his vehicle. He was later discovered by a witness passing by. That person called police.

Delaschott suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A HPD homicide detective told Local 2 the victim was missing an "item," which led them to believe the motive was robbery. Officials would not say what the victim was missing.

The detective also said a video surveillance image showed three people running from the scene.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
