Investigators said Chad Strong, 30, was found hiding out at his girlfriend's home on Hillcroft Street.

Strong was being taken out of a car at jail intake when he managed to get away from officers near the Spaghetti Warehouse near downtown.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Strong was wanted on an original charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; however, additional charges are pending.

Authorities said Strong is a known gang member with ties to New Orleans.
