HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A gunman is on the run after two gas station clerks were robbed and one was shot in northeast Harris County.

Deputies were called around midnight to a Valero in the 14000 block of Homestead Road for reports of a shooting.

Witness told investigators that two men jumped out of a white SUV and tried to rob the two clerks as they were closing the store. A witness said it appeared the clerks refused to give the men money when one of them started shooting, even as the clerks drove away.

Investigators said the two clerks drove a black car with a bullet hole in the back window to a Shell gas station at 1950 North Sam Houston Pkwy, which is about five minutes from the scene of the shooting.

One of the men had a gunshot wound in the thigh, deputies said.

The other clerk was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
