Tree falls, destroys nonprofit's Jet Ski

Texas Adaptive Aquatics used Jet Ski for safety chase boat

HOUSTON – The strong winds Wednesday made driving difficult, but those winds have caused a major setback for a charity that works with disabled children and adults.

A tree fell down at Texas Adaptive Aquatics, 103 Page Lane at Lake Houston, in Huffman, Texas. The tree hit a Jet Ski and a car.

"The loss of the Jet Ski will jeopardize the events for this summer for the disabled," said Roger Randall, president of the nonprofit.

The organization uses the Jet Ski as a safety chase boat when participants are water skiing. Without that chase boat, the organization cannot run the water skiing program.

Randall said the organization, which was founded in 1989, can't afford to replace the Jet Ski. The damaged one had been donated several years ago.

Anyone who would like to make a donation to replace the Jet Ski is asked to call Texas Adaptive Aquatics at 832-435-6253.
