Travis Scott opens pop-up shop in Rice Village

HOUSTON – It's a weekend of dreams coming true for Houston native rapper Travis Scott. On Saturday, thousands attended the reincarnation of Astroworld, Houston’s once seasonally open theme park, in the form of a music festival.

It's a childhood dream for Scott, who is originally from Missouri City. Scott wanted to bring the park back to life and placed his first-of-its-kind festival site right across from where the original site used to be.

On Sunday, Mayor Sylvester Turner recognized Scott as one of Houston’s ambassadors of art, education and youth initiatives.

Scott says he does it all for the kids.

“All I want to do is inspire kids to try to give kids, that motion and that energy to wake up one day and try to change the world, create anything that can inspire anybody, the next person,” said Scott.

The Grammy-nominated rapper also opened his Space 2019 shop, now open in Rice Village ahead of his music festival, which sells the rapper's apparel line with his now-popular Astroworld logo. Long lines wrapped around the store and fans didn't mind at all standing in the rain to get in.

The store is expected to officially be open in 2019.
