Travelers brace for busy Labor Day Weekend

HOUSTON - About 2.1 million Texans will hit the road this Labor Day Weekend. That's about two percent higher than last year and those drivers will be paying less for a gallon of gas than they did in 2013.

The average for a gallon of gas in the Houston area is $3.26 – down 14 cents from last year.

Parking garages are filling up fast at Hobby Airport. Friday afternoon, the main terminal and Eco Park lot was nearing capacity.

If you're catching a flight tonight, head up to levels 3 and 4 for the most open spots.

At Bush Intercontinental Airport, there's plenty of parking available at all terminals with terminals D and E filling up the fastest.

Once you get to the security checkpoints, wait times have been running less than 10 minutes throughout the day at both airports.

Air travel was relatively smooth Friday nationwide. But Houston's weather is causing some departure delays. Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco are also experiencing airport delays.
