HOUSTON - A one-year-old was injured at the Star of Hope Monday when her mother got into a physical altercation with a male resident, according to Houston police.

The resident, 22-year-old Curry Burshorne Young, was charged with injury to a child.

The little girl's mother was holding her when she got into an argument with Young at the shelter located on Ardmore. Young allegedly grabbed the mother, then began striking her and swinging her around, Houston police said.

The girl sustained a head injury when she fell from her mother's arms and hit the floor.

Young was booked into the Harris County Jail and his bond was set at $20,000.
