Woman missing from San Antonio-area believed to be in Houston

Leanne Bearden reported missing from Garden Ridge, Texas, on Jan. 17

HOUSTON - Police believe a woman who went missing earlier this month from the San Antonio area may be in the Houston area after four reported sightings in the last week.

Leanne Bearden, 33, was reported missing from Garden Ridge, Texas, on Jan. 17.

According to an alert sent out by the University of Texas Police at Houston, a Texas Medical Center employee reported seeing Bearden on the TMC property at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27. The department alerted thousands of employees at the TMC to be on the lookout at the request of the Garden Ridge Police Department.

"We hope this flier and the information will bring out other sightings. If people are in doubt, they should call. It might turn out to be her," said Stefan Happ with UT Police Houston.

According to Garden Ridge's police chief, there have been a total of four sightings in the Houston area in the last week, in the areas of Westheimer, Richmond, Kirby and Main.

Officials believe Bearden's welfare is at risk and she may be seeking shelter or medical assistance.

Bearden is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 110 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Bearden or has information about her whereabouts should call UT police at 713-792-2890, the Houston Police Department, or Garden Ridge Police Department.
