Teen shot to death at southwest Houston apartment complex

HPD: Officers originally called out to a home invasion

HOUSTON - A teenager was shot to death at a southwest Houston apartment complex late Monday night, investigators said.

Houston police were called out to a home invasion at the Bennington Square Apartments on West Bellfort Avenue and Bob White Drive about 10:30 p.m.

Once officers went into the apartment, they found Billy Wilson, 18, had been fatally shot.

Another person who lives in the apartment was also shot.  He suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released from a hospital.

Wilson's mother, Jaqueline Fair, was distraught as she described her son. She said he had been hanging out with friends.

"One of the guys he (Billy) just met.  The other two guys, I don't know any too much about those guys. But (Billy) was hanging out with three guys and one of the girlfriends and he'd been with them all day," Fair said.

The question stuck in Fair's mind continued to be why her only son targeted.

"Billy was a good kid.  He wasn't a bad kid to be just out here like that.  I don't know why they would take his life. What was the reason for taking his life?" she wondered.

Detectives said the other shooting victim, along with several other people, were taken in for questioning.

Houston police said the apartment is not the only crime scene.  About a block away, they discovered an area littered with shell casings.

Detectives said no arrests have been made in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
