GALVESTON - Special Olympics Texas is calling on participants for its 3rd Annual Polar Plunge. 

Participants will jump into the cold water to raise money to help support more than 2,000 athletes in the Gulf Coast area.

The frigid fundraiser will take place at 10 a.m. on January 18 at  Stewart Beach in Galveston. The cost to plunge is $60 for adults and $30 for children under 18 years old. 

All registered participants will get a commemorative t-shirt, duffel bag, knit cap or other gifts.

There will be an awards ceremony for most money raised by an individual and team along with a prize for best costume.
