PASADENA, Texas - Pasadena authorities are warning the public about a stranger danger incident in which a man tried to entice a young girl to get into his vehicle.

On the morning of Jan. 29, Pasadena police say a 13-year-old girl was walking to her school bus stop near Teague Elementary School when she noticed a small black SUV following her. The driver honked at her as he drove by, then made a U-turn and pulled up beside her near Crenshaw Park and the fire station.

Police say the driver repeatedly told her to get into his vehicle.  She told him "no" and continued to walk. The driver made several U-turns and continued trying to entice the juvenile to get into his vehicle.  She refused each time and kept walking.

According to police, the driver then pulled into a driveway ahead of her, got out of his vehicle and began walking toward her.  He kept trying to talk her into accepting a ride with him.  At that point she ran off in another direction.  The victim went home and called her mother, who notified the police.

The driver is described as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, with black hair cut in a military style, clean shaven, about 6 feet tall and 190-200 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket, blue denim jeans, and black shoes.  He spoke to the victim in English and Spanish, routinely going back and forth between both languages.

His vehicle was a newer model black or dark-colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet, with dark-tinted windows.  The vehicle has been seen numerous times in the area.

Pasadena ISD released a statement which read in part: "Pasadena ISD staff and police have been alerted and are watching with extra vigilance to protect our students. Through an automated telephone call Wednesday morning, the principal informed parents of the incident and encouraged them to remind their children not to talk to strangers and to walk in groups to and from school."

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the man or vehicle described above are asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221.
