HOUSTON - A northwest Houston cellphone store was heavily damaged Tuesday morning after a smash-and-grab burglary.

Houston police were called to the Xpert Wireless store in the 5800 Block of West Gulf Bank near Antoine shortly after 2:45 a.m. Witnesses called police after seeing an older model white pickup truck smash into the front of the store.

They told police that two or three men wearing black shorts jumped out and started taking items from the store.

Investigators said they may not have gotten away with much because the owner locked the high-priced cellphones in a safe, which was not touched.

Investigators said there were surveillance cameras inside the store that may provide more clues about the criminals.
