GALVESTON, Texas - Police in Galveston are trying to find several weapons that were stolen from a police officer's car May 1.

Investigators said weapons like an M-16 rifle, a Glock handgun, several magazines and other items were taken from the SWAT officer's personal vehicle.

The car was locked and parked in the driveway of his League City home.

"Because of the weapons, we are taking a serious look at this case, and Galveston is also investigating, so you are getting two police departments working to find the person that stole these weapons," said Kristi Wyatt, a spokesperson for League City.

The Galveston Police Department has launched an internal affairs investigation. The police chief told Local 2 that the officer is responsible for his guns whether he is at work or at home.
