Restaurant Report Card: Slime (and roaches) in the ice machine

Inspectors found something else in the ice bin of one local business

HOUSTON - Slime in the ice machine is a fairly common violation for Houston area restaurants, but this week inspectors found something else in the ice bin of one local business.

At the Sonic inside the Houston Galleria, inspectors say they found a roach in the bottom of the ice machine.

There were a few cockroaches on a wall in the kitchen of the Domino's Pizza at 2927 Bingle. And more roaches at Las Haciendas at 12933 Gulf Freeway.

They found turkey and chicken off temperature and potentially hazardous at the Boston Market on West Gray in River Oaks.

At Fornos of Italy at 6439 West 43rd Street, inspectors found black mildew inside the ice machine.

We dropped in Cyclone Anaya's in CityCentre near I-10 and Beltway 8. It's where inspectors say they had to condemn 15 pounds of refried beans because they were off temperature and not safe for human consumption. No one at the restaurant wanted to talk about the violation.

We want to call your attention to two restaurants this week that earn A's for spotless inspections. IHOP at 8607 Southwest Freeway and Pappas BBQ at 3814 Little York. Kudos to both restaurants.
