TEXAS CITY, Texas - A SUV rolled over with a pregnant woman inside, shutting down the Gulf Freeway for more than an hour.

The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Interstate 45 near Holland in Texas City.

Officials said a Ford Expedition lost control and rolled several times, eventually landing on its side.

When emergency crews arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman who was nine months pregnant trapped inside the vehicle. A 28-year-old man was able to crawl out on his own, officials said.

Investigators said the fire department had to use the jaws of life to get the woman out of the vehicle. Both victims were taken to UTMB hospital, but the woman was taken by helicopter.

The woman underwent surgery. Her and the baby's condition were not released.

Officials believe the wet weather may have played a role in the accident.
