HOUSTON – A man is facing a felony charge after police said he threatened to blow up a METRORail train.
Investigators said Baker was riding on the light rail vehicle on Aug. 27. When he got off on Main Street, officials said he realized he left his cup of lemonade on board. He tried to get back on board the light rail train, but the doors had already closed, officials said.
Investigators said Baker decided to give METRO a call, telling them the cup he'd left would explode and blow up the train. As a result, rail service was interrupted for more than an our while the bomb tech unit was called in to investigate the suspicious cup, officials said.
Baker was arrested Friday after being identified through surveillance cameras on the platform and inside the train.
Baker's neighbor didn't want to give her name, but said she was stunned to hear the news.
"He always says hello when he's out there. He talks to everybody, he walks his dog up and down the street," his neighbor said.
Baker has been charged with making a terrorist threat.
According to court records, Baker has been in trouble with the law before, but never for a felony charge. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 24.
