'Operation: Save a Life' campaign kicks off in Houston

HOUSTON - Did you know nearly 30 percent of all residential fire in Houston have no working smoke detector or no smoke detector at all?

On Thursday, Houston Mayor Annise Parker, Houston Fire Chief Terry Garrison and other city leaders are joining forces to kick off the 2nd annual Operation: Safe a Life safety campaign.

As part of the campaign, Kiddie and Home Depot are contributing 3,000 10-year smoke detectors for Houston residents.

The campaign kicks off Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at HFD Station 8.
