Mom accused of leaving child in hot car while she shopped

HOUSTON - A mother is facing charges, accused of leaving her child in a hot car while she shopped at a department store.

Court documents state on the afternoon Sept. 14 Rataski Goins, left her 1-year-old son in the car while she went inside Palais Royal on the North Freeway. A security guard spotted the child and called police. They say the boy was in the car for about 15 minutes.

The security guard tried to stop Goins, but she fled the scene, investigators say. They found her a few blocks away. The boy was not injured.

Goins, 23, is charged with endangering a child. She's being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
