METRORail closed for construction this weekend

HOUSTON – All METRORail stations will be closed this weekend due to construction in downtown Houston.  The construction is related to the new METRO light-rail lines and rail maintenance.

There will be no rail service between the Fannin South and UH-Downtown stations beginning at 7:45 p.m. on Friday through midnight Sunday.

Since all rail stations will be closed, METRO will operate rail shuttle buses every 10 minutes during normal service hours on these days.   However, buses will not be able to access the UH-Downtown Station due to construction.  Bus service requires more travel time, so allow more time for your trip.

The construction also requires a closure of Main Street between Texas and Walker. This closure takes place 7 p.m. on Friday through 4 a.m. on Monday.  Businesses and residences in the area will remain open and fully accessible.

Rusk traffic will detour north on Travis, east on Texas, south on Fannin, and east on Rusk. Capitol traffic will detour south on Fannin, west on Walker, north on Travis, and west on Capitol.
