Man wounded in Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Texas - Police are investigating a shooting in Richmond which left one man wounded.

Richmond police say officers responded to a disturbance call where shots were fired around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Freeman Town area in the 400 block of Travis.

Upon arrival, officers say they were told by witnesses that several men had been fighting in the front yard of a residence.

Witnesses told police one gunshot was fired.

Police say there were no victims at the scene and witnesses did not report that anyone had been shot.

Officials say 27-year-old Christopher Branch went to the Oak Bend Medical Center emergency room about an hour after the shooting.

The hospital contacted police about Branch's gunshot wound to the leg.

Police say officers spoke with Branch at the hospital who was unable to identify the person who shot him.

Branch is expected to recover from his wound.
