HPD helps kids look good, feel good at school

4th annual back-to-school event

Headline Goes Here

HOUSTON - The Houston Police Department was out in full force Sunday, helping kids get ready to go back to school.

Members from the HPD Community Outreach Unit, dubbed the "Blue Crew," joined up with volunteers at several Houston-area locations for the annual "Look Good, Feel Good" event.

The purpose of the event was to gear kids up with school supplies, backpacks and even freeĀ hair cuts.

Anna Fontenot is a hair stylist and has volunteered with the program for the past three years.

"It's been such a blessing just to be able to give back. I do this strictly from my heart," said Fontenot.

The group served kids from noon to 3 p.m. at three locations, including the Star of Hope in southeast Houston.

Officials with the Houston Police Department said they hope the event will not only gear kids up with free stuff they'll need for school, but give them a little extra confidence for that first day back in the classroom.
