HPD: Drunk driver hits pole in northeast Houston

Driver is in stable condition

HOUSTON – A man is recovering in the hospital after running into a pole in northeast Houston.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of West Hardy Road and East Crosstimbers Street.

According to police, a man was driving drunk southbound on West Hardy when he failed to make a curve in the road, driving straight into a wooden utility pole.

The pole snapped in half due to the impact.

The driver had had to be extricated from the truck. 

He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
