HPD: Carjacking leads to high-speed chase in NE Houston

Police: Victim targeted in driveway

HOUSTON - One person is in custody and three more are on on the run after a carjacking and high-speed chase in northeast Houston.

The homeowner, Felix Luna, said he was in his pickup in his driveway in the 200 block of Lindale Street when three men jumped out of another pickup early Monday morning.

"Two young guys came up and pulled a gun on me and wanted money.  I told them I don't (sic) have any money," Luna said.

When they found out cash was not an option, Luna said, "He shot up in the air and said he wanted my truck.  I had to give it to him.  It was my life or what."

Luna said they took off in his blue pickup.

Luna called 911 and gave police a description of his truck and the black pickup that dropped the carjackers off.

A police officer spotted the drop-off truck and tried to pull the driver over, investigators said.

Police said the driver refused and led them on a 15-minute chase.

According to investigators, at one point the driver was going the wrong way on the Hardy Tollway Feeder Road near Cavalcade Street.

The driver eventually stopped at a dead end on Frisco Street and Helmers Street just a block away from the carjacking scene on Lindale Road near Fulton Street.

Police said the victim's stolen truck and the three carjackers got away.

Luna said he has lived on Lindale Road for 43 years and never had anything like this happen before.
