HOUSTON - Three men are on the run after they smashed their way into a northeast Houston convenience store early Thursday morning, police said.

Surveillance cameras at the Qwick Stop store on Laura Koppe Road near Homestead Road appears to show a pickup repeatedly smashing into the front of the store.

The driver eventually got through the door, but the pickup got stuck.

A passing Houston police officer noticed the scene while on patrol in the area, according to Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.

Unfortunately, the burglars were long gone by the time he arrived, he said.

Surveillance video shows them running from the scene.

"We put a perimeter around the building, used K-9s to search the building, there was nobody inside," Crowson said.

The owner of the business said he is waiting for his insurance company to help him figure out what to do next and how to clean up the more than $50,000 in damage to his store.

No one was hurt.
