Witnesses told police that Erika Cardenas, 33, had been on a boat with several other people, when she went in the water to go swimming and never resurfaced.

The Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Coast Guard, League City, Webster and Baytown fire departments searched for Cardenas.

Officials said divers found her body just after 10 p.m. that night.

Police do not suspect foul play, but waiting for autopsy results to determine the official cause of death and if alcohol was a factor.
