Honoring fallen four firefighters at public memorial service

HOUSTON - More than 30,000 people are expected to honor the fallen firefighters at a public memorial service scheduled for Wednesday at Reliant Stadium.

Captain EMT Matthew Renaud, engineer operator EMT Robert Bebee, firefighter EMT Robert Garner and probationary firefighter Anne Sullivan died Friday while battling a five-alarm fire at a southwest Houston hotel.

As the public prepare to honor the four firefighters at a public service, they are making final funeral arrangements.

Garner's mother, Cydnee Green, released a statement through a family spokesperson.

"We take great comfort in the fact that Bobby died doing what he loved most," said Mary Anne Goehring. "He will remain in God's hands until we see him again."

This will be the third time in 13 years that the Houston Fire Department has held a memorial for multiple firefighters killed in the line of duty.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Reliant Stadium.
