Driver in police chase faces child endangerment charges

According to Houston police, a driver flagged down a police officer in the 3300 block of Alabama in southeast Houston and said the driver of a red Cadillac had hit his car.

That driver, police said, turned out to be Delunte Burch, 28, who has a criminal history that includes assault, theft and other felony charges.

Police said they could only see Burch and a woman in his red Cadillac as they tried to stop him.

At some point, police said, the woman in the vehicle called dispatch and said her daughter was with her and Burch. She asked police to not shoot the vehicle.

The chase ended at the Kelly Village housing project at Green and Sydnor near downtown. Police said Burch bailed out of the car, ran through the housing complex, and ran back to the street before an officer hit him with a taser gun.

Burch said there was no reason to use the taser.

"He shot me with that taser as I laid down on the ground," Burch told Local 2. "Come bail me out of jail, momma."
