HOUSTON - A driver faces multiple charges after a police chase in northwest Houston.

The chase started around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday near the North Freeway and North Main Street when an officer attempted to pull over a driver for drunk driving.

Police said the driver took off in his pickup truck, and the officer chased him to the North Loop and north on Highway 290.

During that part of the chase, officers said the driver hit a concrete wall on the North Loop several times, and HPD deployed spike strips to try and slow down the driver, which were unsuccessful.

The chase ended 15 minutes later on Hollister Road and Pitner Road when the driver pulled into the place where he works, officials said.

Police arrested the man at the scene. He was charged with felony evading and driving while intoxicated.
