HOUSTON – Police are searching for a man who shot two women in a car, and he's made headlines in Houston before.
Houston police said Noe Aranda, 32, was driving a Dodge Magnum with two passengers westbound on the Katy Freeway about 8:45 p.m. Thursday.
The man fired shots at the women in the Katy area, investigators said.
One woman either jumped or was pushed out of the car near Westgreen Boulevard, investigators said. She was taken to a hospital, where she remained in stable condition on Monday.
The second woman either jumped or was pushed out of the moving car near Grand Parkway, detectives said. Witnesses said she was clinging to the car before she fell to the ground. She was hit by several oncoming cars, investigators said.
Detectives said it is unclear if the bullets, the impact of the fall or the oncoming cars killed her.
By the time authorities got to the scene, she was badly dismembered, police said. Her name has not been released.
Investigators said Aranda continued on to the Brookshire area. Around F.M. 1489, he slammed into a guardrail, spun his vehicle and then clipped an 18 wheeler. The car went across the grassy median, through the eastbound lanes of traffic on I-10 and crashed on the side of the road, police said. He bailed out and ran, detectives said.
Aranda has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Aranda made headlines in Houston in April. Police said he led officers on a multi-county chase after he got into a fight with his pregnant wife. Four children were in the pickup truck during the chase. Aranda was charged, but never arrested, in connection with that case.
