Driver arrested, charged after police chase

HOUSTON - A driver faces multiple charges after, police said, he led officers on a brief chase through southeast Houston.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, a driver in a blue Chevy Impala ran into the side of a brown car at Almeda Genoa and Highway 288. The driver of the brown car called police.

When Houston police arrived, the driver of the Chevy Impala took off south on the Buffalo Speedway, officials said. During the chase, police said the driver went through several yards, but he didn't hit anything. Officers chased the driver to the corner of Jewel Meadow Drive and Twisted Brook Drive, where he finally stopped and was arrested.

Police said the driver faces driving while intoxicated, hit-and-run, and felony evading charges.

His name has not been released.
