Driver arrested after hour-long police chase

HOUSTON - An hour-long police chase ended in an arrest in southeast Houston early Friday.

The chase began around 11:45 p.m. Thursday. Officers said they spotted a red pickup truck on South Shaver near Gulf Freeway. They attempted to pull the man over for a traffic violation, but authorities said the driver did not stop.

The driver then led police on an hour-long chase circling Beltway 8 until spikes were thrown out near Highway 3 and the driver went over them.

The driver was arrested and charges were pending.

Investigators said they do not know why the man refused to stop.

His name was not released.
