ALVIN, Texas - A man is dead after a rollover accident in Brazoria County early Sunday morning, the Department of Public Safety said.

Just after 1:15 a.m. Sunday, police said the driver was headed northbound on County Road 185. He started to veer off the right side of the two-lane road near FM 1462, according to troopers, and that is when he overcorrected sending his car into a rollover.

DPS said the SUV rolled down a ditch, hit a tree and then knocked down a fence.

The SUV landed in the front yard of a home, but did not damage the home.

There were two men inside the vehicle, according to investigators.

Troopers said the driver was ejected and died while being flown to the Memorial Hermann Hospital.

They said his passenger suffered only minor injuries

Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in this crash, but they are still investigating.
