Car hits southwest Houston home; suspects flee

HPD: Suspects ran when homeowner called police

HOUSTON - Three men crashed a car into a southwest Houston home early Monday morning, police said.

The homeowner said he was asleep in his house in the 11000 block of Sands Point Drive when he was awakened by a loud crash around 3:30 a.m. He told investigators the men in the car got out of the badly damaged vehicle and pleaded for him not to call police.

When the homeowner decided to call 911, all three men ran from the scene, officials said.

Police said they have a lot of evidence from the car that could help them track down the suspects. Investigators believe some or all of them may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The house's brick patio was destroyed. No one was hurt.
